ARCHIVES BELOW: You I Want In David's Words: What is You I Want ? You I Want is a song of emotion. It has a beat a lot like Asiatique, but more club-friendly. It definately is partly inspired by East-Asian influence, as so many pop songs are these days. What makes this song different, then? You I Want has this different kind of flavor. When you hear it, you'll know what I mean. It has a lot of passion, and it takes my music to a totally different level. It sort of cultminates all a person feels when they have love at first sight. It feels a little R&B as well. But it's different from Asiatique in that it has a lot more of a chorus, and it's definately more catchy. I wanted to take a risk with this song, so I basically built it from scratch. I hope other people feel it, too! |

You I Want / Anew David's first original-release CD single! David Donofrio is working on the first original CD single of his pop career, as a welcome to Wittenberg University, and a goodbye to Dublin Scioto High School. The single is actually for You I Want, the last new song he wrote and performed in Dublin. But in addition, a completely new ballad called Anew is also featured on the disc, which David himself calls "the most beautiful and passionate ballad I've ever written." Anew is also appropriately titled, celebrating the new experience of college that will be coming soon for David. Why didn't he just do some other songs and put these 2 on a new album, like he has in the past? "These songs are in a separate category," David says. "They may eventually come out as part of an album, but right now, the time to do an entire album just isn't there. But I feel it is important to release these 2 songs as soon as I can, together. On one CD, they are polar opposites of each other, but each one I feel a very special connection to." You I Want, the main track, is a club-friendly song with little bits of an Asian influence. It is about meeting someone new on the dance floor and being completely taken away by her. Anew, by contrast, is a ballad about a long lost love, where David uses imagery-infused lyrics to convince her that the relationship should begin again. Anew is also perfectly timed because "this is a time in my life where I want the past to remain, yet I need to move forward," David says. The limited-edition CD single is timed for release "hopefully before the end of the year," David says. But with college, there can never be specific promises. More details will be posted here as they come. You I Want / Anew will be available both as a single CD, or in a package with David's popular album, #12. Production on both songs is happening now.
